Thanks HildeK! You were right, it was happening to me too, so taking your advice, I signed out then signed back in, and the 401 error disappeared and my score was saved. Thanks again!
I'm again the error message when saving to the cloud: "401 Authorization required" --but I was already logged in. I even tried logging out and then back in but still won't save my score to the cloud. Changing file name doesn't help either. Weird.

Save locally! You can then save the file later, e.g. when the service is available again.
401 is an authorization error, which means: You are simply not logged in.

Thank you. It turns out I was somehow logged out, and needed to log back in by going to Home -> My Online Scores.
