Lost access to OLD Musescore software
I used an older version of MuseScore for years until recently when my old computer crashed and had to be replaced. I was able to save my files but the current MuseScore application will not open them at all. I originally downloaded a free version of the software in around 2012, but don't really know what it would be named. MuseScore 3 gives me an error message when I try to open my compositions: Cannot read file. Can anyone help me get access to my compositions? Thanks!

Delete the period/comma (?) from the end of the extension. It should be ...ental.mscz not ...ental.mscz,
With that character it's a backup file.

Sorry, I'm not very tech-savvy. I only see that list of letters on the error message. How can I access the extension to take off the comma?
Thanks!

Open File Manager/Finder/Dolphin or whatever file management program you operating system uses and make the change there.

You should set the view options in the file manager so that the file extensions are displayed.
